GEOTRACE is a flagship initiative by XELTIS LTD, designed to redefine the landscape of geological mapping through advanced geospatial technologies and data analytics. This project aims to provide precise, real-time insights into Earth's subsurface, enabling sustainable and efficient mineral exploration. By leveraging high-resolution satellite imagery, ground-penetrating radar, and AI-driven analysis, GEOTRACE has become an indispensable tool for geologists and mining companies worldwide, offering a comprehensive solution for identifying and assessing mineral deposits with minimal environmental disruption.
The GEOTRACE project was initiated in 2020 as part of XELTIS's broader mission to enhance resource management practices. Its primary goal was to address the limitations of traditional geological surveys, which often involve time-consuming and invasive methods. GEOTRACE employs non-invasive techniques to map geological structures, detect fault lines, and identify mineral-rich zones with an accuracy rate of 95%. This technology has been instrumental in projects like the 2021 Katanga mission, where GEOTRACE uncovered cobalt and lithium deposits worth $41.5K, saving $550K in exploration costs and empowering 5,000 locals with sustainable livelihoods.
One of GEOTRACE's standout features is its ability to integrate multiple data sources, including satellite imagery, drone surveys, and historical geological records, into a unified platform. The system uses machine learning to analyze this data, providing predictive models that highlight potential mineral deposits and assess environmental risks. This allows mining companies to plan their operations with greater precision, reducing ecological impact and operational costs. GEOTRACE also supports extraterrestrial applications, with plans to map geological features on the Moon and Mars for future resource extraction missions.
Beyond its technological prowess, GEOTRACE is committed to fostering global collaboration and sustainability. The project has partnered with local communities and governments in over 80 countries, sharing its data to promote transparent and equitable resource management. In the 2022 South Kivu project, GEOTRACE supported 7,000 people by providing jobs and infrastructure while mapping coltan deposits valued at $465K. As XELTIS continues to push the boundaries of geological exploration, GEOTRACE remains a cornerstone of its efforts to create a more sustainable and resource-abundant future.
